Reconciliation

Reconciliation Stole.webp

Jesus entrusted the ministry of reconciliation to the Church.  The Sacrament of Penance is God's gift to us so that any sin committed after Baptism can be forgiven.

Not only does it the Sacrament of Reconciliation free us from our sins but it also challenges us to have the same kind of compassion and forgiveness for those who sin against us.   We obtain new insight into the words of the Prayer of St. Francis: "It is in pardoning that we are pardoned."

Lenten Journey

Preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation consists of a good examination of conscience.  This examination, guided by the Ten Commandments and the Precepts of the Church, helps us prepare to confess sins to the priest.  There are many examinations that can be used.   Click here for a link to the USCCB website which provides a variety to choose from (for adults, married, single, children).   You can also find a detailed examination of conscience here which you may find helpful.
